Who is Sid?
People often ask me where Sid comes from.
The simplest answer is that Sid represents part of me.
His imagination runs riot at times. He can see exactly what he wants to create, but between the idea and the finished work lies a puzzle.
Sometimes his thoughts freeze.
Sometimes he knows precisely what he wants to say, yet the words refuse to arrive.
That can be frustrating.
Old age and ADHD don’t make the journey any easier.
Sid doesn’t always mix well with other humans. He often finds animals easier company. They don’t expect explanations. Forests and shady groves suit him too. They ask nothing of him except that he notices them.
Sid would like to entertain people.
Sometimes he succeeds.
Often he doesn’t.
But he keeps trying.
People describe Sid as eccentric.
They’re probably right.
The truth is…
So am I.
There is one companion that follows Sid wherever he goes.
A constant fear that he won’t be able to finish what he has started.
Perhaps that is why every completed cartoon feels like a small victory.

How Sid is created
Every Sid cartoon begins with an original idea. I create the situation, write the dialogue and decide exactly what I want Sid to express. Using carefully written prompts, I work with artificial intelligence to produce the illustration. The final cartoon is the result of many creative decisions—idea, direction, editing and presentation—all brought together to tell a visual story.
